Last Light

Some surf photos are nothing but still shots of people in motion. And then there are surf photos like this that capture the feeling of an entire session: the small dancing shadows in the water, the chill in the air as the evening seeps in, the glint of the dying rays of sunlight caught in between your lashes, and the thrill of your last wave drumming up your spine like fingertips, slow, seductive, steady. I love this shot not for the size of the wave or for how I look on my board-- no. I love this shot because it makes me grateful to have been part of that setting, that peace in its momentary perfection, the city turning into gold.
