Next to writing, the one sure thing that calms my mind is watering the plants. To my delight, we now have a few plants to water around our kubo. We first discovered two avocado sprouts when we returned from Siargao two months ago. Now we have more than five in one row. We also discovered a wild tomato patch growing proudly on its own accord. We have since plucked the juicy rewards of simply letting things grow.
There are a few other unnamed sprouts near where the baby papayas are. I don't know what else is waiting beneath this soil. I ask Harold over and over, what else did you plant there? He never gives me a straight answer. With a smile in his eyes, he tells me to wait and let things grow.
