Day 95: Brand New Hopes

95/100 → For Christmas this year, we planned to just wait for waves and eat a lot of cake. Nicaragua, our beautiful dog, had her own plans. We waited by her side as the afternoon unfurled itself into a deep purple dusk. We could hear our neighbors celebrating: the clatter of dishes being passed around, and the beeps of karaoke buttons being pressed, another song, another carol. By the time the sun had set in a place where sunsets are known to restore some strange tingling of hope in people, we welcomed into our home six little miracles, six brand new hopes.

Everywhere in the world, people are showing each other the different ways they know how to love. And I feel it all right now.

Edit: Make that 8 puppies!
